May 2014

May was a fun month for our family. Dylan graduated from Kindergarten!! He loves school and is a great student--and pretty smart too! He loved being in Mrs. Stewart's class. He made tons of new friends and became a great reader. His graduation program was so cute. Even grammy came down to see him graduate.

Dylan also celebrated his 6th birthday on May 23rd. He had a birthday party at the house with a bunch of neighborhood friends! We played games and got wet. He was spoiled rotten. He chose to go to Dickey's Barbeque for his birthday dinner--a great choice above pizza (we eat pizza every Friday night!)

Happy Birthday Dylan

Man oh Man! It has been quite the day. Today is the first day of summer break and Dylan's birthday. I had high hopes of sleeping in--until at least 8:00--that was definitely wishful thinking on my part...both boys showed up in my bedroom at 6:07 this morning! I think they were both a little bit excited about Dylan's birthday party today!
Dylan picked a sports birthday party. He had quite the crew here. We hit a football helmet pinata, played with giant water balloons, ate pizza and breadsticks, and had a dance off on the wiiU. His friends got him some really fun presents this year! He has been riding his bike, playing xbox, jumping on the tramp, eating popsicles and playing with friends all day long....I'm pretty sure today has been a great day for him.
We got him a remote control car, a flipper for his bike, some spoke thingys for his bike, and Connor picked out Trash Packs??? (random boy toys!), and a video game.

Happy birthday Dylan! I am so proud of the young man that you are becoming. You are polite, a good friend, an excellent reader, and a great brother! I hope you have had a wonderful day today!

Her timing was perfect.
She is full of sass, energy, and love!

Happy Birthday Dylan--in May

We celebrated Dylan's birthday in May. He turned 5 and so that means he was able to have a friend birthday party. To say he was excited would be a total understatement. I don't think he slept the three nights leading up to his big day. He invited friends from the ward as well as a few preschool buddies. We ended up with quite the crew at the party! He loved having his friends over and I loved watching him be so happy.

my sister called

ok, she didn't really call, but she did text me.
her text said:
um...update your blog please i'm bored.

she also said something about needing to see "new pics of those cute faces." i'm assuming she means my kids' cute faces--since she doesn't usually refer to me, or my hubs as "cute." so sissy, this update is for you- sort of.

lets start at the very beginning, a very good place to start, when you....just kidding. but seriously, lets start at the beginning...of the year, since that is where i left off.
january was nothing special--maybe you noticed, since i never updated. the calendar was full though, see:

basketball.
both boys have been going to basketball camp. they love it. they go every saturday at 4 pm and are so much fun to watch. the first week they were really awkward with the basketball and i couldn't quit giggling at their uncoordinated little bodies. they are on week 5 and they both have improved so much. connor can handle the ball really well, and dylan is quite the little shooter!

doctor.
sam and dylan both went to see the doctor for ear infections. they are the story of my life. my kids get the slightest little sniffle and it turns into a nasty ear infection. every time. the doctor who saw dylan didn't believe me when i told him "we'll see you in a few days for an ear infection" after taking him to try to get on top of it. the doc saw fluid in his ear but no redness so he sent us home empty handed--we were back 2 days later, at the night clinic, diagnosed with a double ear infection. i aint no doctor but i do know my kids! {that being said, we love our doctor, he really is a great guy!}

dentist.
paul went in to see the dentist, and i think he had a cavity filled. easy breezy.

work.
paul had to go up to the pleasant grove office to work for 2 weeks. it sucked. i hated not having him home. the first week was ok and the second week my mom and brother came and spent the week with me and the kids. it was so nice having adults to talk to. we shopped, wandered around town, and just talked. it was fun having them around. my kids loved having them here too!
another thing i guess i could include in the work area of life is that i got a job. now don't go freaking out because i got a job. my cousin hooked me up with a sweet deal. she does title searches and stuff like that. she needs somebody here in st. george to print out information from the recorders office and email the papers up to her. easy. i get paid. no stress. i can bring my kids. i've had to go to the office twice and it took a total of 10 minutes! so yes, i have a job--if you want to call it that! and i donate plasma, which my aunt thinks is disgusting and dirty. i like to think of it as saving lives--and making a quick buck!

birthdays.
sam had a birthday. a second birthday to be exact. she is two. that is just nonsense. she is just the same sweet little sassy curly haired baby. we just love her to bits. she loves to sing "popcorn popping" "wise man, foolish man" "itsy bitsy spider" and "twinkle twinkle." she loves to make animal noises, but thinks it is more fun to ask us what the animals say. it is so funny. she knows that she is cute--is that a bad thing? she loves to have her picture taken, but she is only good for one or two shots then she just wants to see herself. she is an iphone ninja. she can add and delete contacts/apps and information on my phone faster than i can! my brother couldn't believe she could unlock and navigate my phone. she's a ninja i tell you.
{Grammy bought her this cute new "princess dress"--she loves it}

working out.
so i joined the gym. again. we joined a gym back in january of 2009 and then something about a brain tumor, chemotherapy and a crap load of doctor visits put a halt on our gym-going ways. and since then we haven't been back. paul joined a gym a few months ago, but i was stubborn and didn't want to go to the same gym...i need classes, not just the gym. so i waited it out and just barely jumped on a great opportunity to join the gym just a few blocks away (and they have daycare! bonus.) i love going to the gym. i love the classes, i love getting sore muscles, and i love that it is literally a few blocks away.

ok, so this is a long post. february is here, almost half way over, and we are just doing our thing. life is good. paul is crazy busy at work and the kids are busy with school and i am busy being mom and wife--and trying to get my old body back!

peace out.

six

connor is six. i have a six year old. my oldest is six. he's in kindergarten, and he is six.

yesterday we celebrated his birthday with a party. not just a party, a spongebob barfy-pants birthday party. i am not a spongebob fan. i would rather my kids watched a million other shows on the t.v than spongebob. but, i let him choose the kind of party he wanted. he chose spongebob barfy-pants, so i went all out for him. he invited friends from school, the neighborhood and a few from primary. lucky for me, they are all still young enough that i got away with a little duck-duck-goose, red-light-green-light, little caesars pizza (sans breadsticks), green kool-aid, and some barfy-pants cupcakes.

connor had so much fun. he has some awesome little friends and he got some really fun presents. we are so lucky and blessed to live in such a great neighborhood!

fun facts about connor at age 6:
he has found a new love/talent for coloring and drawing
he is very gentle with sam
he shares just about everything with dylan
he is learning to read
he can do simple adding and subtracting in his head
he has made lots of new friends in kindergarten
he reminds us to read the book of mormon every night
he will finally talk on the phone (instead of nodding his head up and down)
he loves to say prayers
he still loves his bestie paige
he can ride a bike without training wheels
he is playing flag football
he is still so sweet, kind, a little shy, he loves his momma and totally idolizes his dad!

we love you connor boy!

Dylan is Four

Yesterday we celebrated Dylan's 4th birthday.
He was so excited to open presents.
We went to the Townsquare water park and played for a bit then Dad brought home pizza for lunch. After lunch Connor and Dylan played all afternoon with Dylan's new toys. For dinner we went to Golden Corral--a new Dilly favorite.

Dylan we love you so much. We are so happy you are four "and getting big like Connor." You are so happy all the time...you do have some major attitude but we love you anyway!

I asked Dylan a few questions and here are his funny answers:
favorite color?  red
favorite food?  pizza
favorite song? today i swear i'm not doing anything--The Lazy Song
best friend? Connor, Paige and Grace
favorite animal?  kitty {kitty? really Dylan...you won't even touch a kitten!}
favorite toy? new spiderman car
favorite drink?  apple juice and chocolate milk
what do you want to be when you grow up?  fireman
what makes you happy?  riding bikes, going for walks, watching movies
where is your favorite place to go? the park, wal-mart {oh, for hell sakes--we need to go to Disneyland!}, the little store with little red carts--Ace Hardware

We love our little Dilly Dawg!  Happy Birthday Buddy.
