i took a heavy duty pain.killer about an hour ago.
my feet feel like they are going to explode. for real.
so here is the story.
on the 4th of july i went for a big run. i have a race next weekend in bryce. remember? well on that run, at about mile 8 i thought i had a rock in the back of my shoe. i stopped a few times to get it out it really quick. i noticed a small blister forming but i was still about 3 miles from home so i just ran through it. no biggie. at about mile 9.5 my other foot started to burn up by my toes. i have calloused nasty feet and knew that there was just another blister forming by my callous. again, no biggie. i was almost home so i just kept going. i got home kicked my shoes off and immediately felt the burning pain of two new blisters.
we hung out the whole day at the park with the kids. my feet/legs/back/hips all were achy but that is totally normal for me. especially after a big run. overall i felt pretty good.
the next morning i wanted to freaking die. die, i tell you. my feet hurt so bad. my parents were in town for the day and we shopped/walked a lot that day. i wore flip-flops because the blister on my right foot was oozing all.day.long. i was limping pretty good by the end of the day. i also noticed my left ankle was swollen. {before my mom left town she told me i should go see a doctor....i sort of agreed with her!}
friday morning i woke up and thought i was going to have to cut my feet off. my left ankle looked like i had sprained it. i
after some numbing medicine, rubbing it clean with soap, scraping some of the dead skin, and then CUTTING THE DEAD SKIN OFF MY FREAKING-SWOLLEN-HURTY-OOZING BLISTER. she wrapped my feet up, gave me a shot in the butt and sent me out the door with 3 prescriptions to fill. basically i have blisters and they got infected. just like that. BAM. no running until the skin is completely healed. haha. i can't even walk. in fact as i was hobbling out the door she offered me some crutches. yes it's that bad. no i didn't take any crutches. i have blisters, not a damn broken bone.
so that is where i am at. no running. no bryce 1/2 marathon. heck i can't even walk. i held it together pretty good, even while she was cutting my foot apart, until i got in the car with all my prescriptions. then i lost it. the tears just came and there was no stopping them until i got home and finished telling paul all about it.
so no running for me. screw my asics. those damn shoes will be the death of me.
and now a few pics:
i have to soak, apply cream, and wrap my feet three times a day for the next 3-5 days. oh, and elevate as much as possible. are you jealous? ha!

Oh my heck TARA! That is gross! I am so sorry that happened to you. Now stay off your feet and let them heal! Love you.
Oh, Tara!! That is horrible!! I feel so bad for you and your feet! All because of my stupid half story! ;) I'm glad the doctor helped you! Hopefully you are feeling better soon!!
One word... ew!!! Just not our year to run. Boo hoo. Maybe we're supposed to get pregnant! hahaha
haha i'm laughing. but only a little bit. who heard of such a predicament?! looks super painful though... if i lived closer i'd bring otter pops and movies by to help with the healing process. we all know otter pops are magic medicine! :)
Tara-son! This is horrifying! I can't believe your shoes ate your feet like that! I love that you refused crutches. That's the Tara I know and love. I'm sorry you can't run. I bet that is devistating, especially with all the training you've put in. You take it easy and let that skin heal. Hey, at least your toenails are still cute! :)
