dilemma

this might sound a bit dramatic
you may think this a lame post
but i just had this realization about my life:

every morning i am faced with a few options:
run? or stay in bed?
shower? or not shower?
{by shower, I mean wash my hair, and by wash my hair I mean wash, blow dry, style...get hot and sweaty after I just showered. dang it.}
get ready? put on workout/lounge clothes?

i am fully aware at this point that i sound like your typical stay-at-home mom. i know.

here's the real problem though:
the running part is hell because i have to get up early, like so early the sun is not up yet. the hubby has to be to work by 8 and the kids think they need to be awake--on most days-- before the sun is up, thus, i must get up and go so i can be back to wrangle the kids so hubby can get ready for work. the morning just goes a whole lot smoother when i am home when they get up.
 if i stay in bed and sleep--like i did today--then i go throughout the entire day feeling guilty because i slept. actually the guilt is not because i slept. the guilt is because i didn't run.

then comes the shower option wash my hair option. in all reality i only wash my hair 2, maybe 3 times a week. yes i run and get sweaty but i have a lions mane growing on my head so the sweaty.greasy.slicky.nasty. hair is covered nicely by the mane. you can only appreciate the disgusting-ness of that information if you have a lion's-mane. i consider that to be the number one perk to having the fro that i have!

and finally getting ready. and when i say get ready i mean hair, makeup, and decent clothes. {something that says "oh, she's a cute mom"} you know, something not mucked up by the likings of 3 small children. there are three areas i check to determine if a shirt is ok to wear:
boobs: they are the catch-all. if there is crap on the shirt it's on the boobs for sure. {crap could include smeared snotty noses, smeared whatever-my-kids-have-leftover-on-their-faces-from-lunch, just an overall smudginess}
stomach: i hold a sassy-pants little 17 month old all.day.long. her shoes are black, her feet are black, her legs are black...my shirts get really dirty from her. and i can't forget the leakage from an overflowing diaper. sure to end up on my shirt.
pits: i live in southern utah yo. it's hot. like bloody hot. and i am a sweater. like i am always hot and while the dry hot sun is sucking all the moisture out of my body i am pretty sure my pits could sustain life for a few small goldfish. i sweat. the end. you know i check out the pits of every.single.shirt i own before i put it on.

if i do decide to actually get ready, like i did today then i don't want to do anything. i just spent a good part of my morning getting dolled up and smelling pretty. i do not want to go outside, clean my house, exercise--duh! or do anything that would require me to get hot. so here i sit, all dolled up and nothing to do, except shop. that sounds good. except that i have to get the kids ready, load up the car, unload the car--in the heat--and then be tortured in the store by my kids' begging....

tomorrow i'm staying in my workout clothes. ha!

Those sound similar to my dilemmas except mine only last a few short moths and then I'm forced once again to look human every day to impress 6 year olds?! :) I think you're a doll and probably look great no matter what!!

Sounds like a typical sahm. like me. I stayed in my grungies ALL day today. Not one but of guilt.

I refer to my two looks as Homely House Wife and Hot House Wife. I am Hot House Wife maybe once or twice a week. Most of the time I rock the Homely.

Oh Tara, Just go all natural. Let the lions mane flow freely. That's what I did when you were little. Why don't you post a elementry picture to show the real mane. Or how about a before and after picture. You were beautiful then as you are now. Love you!
(p.s. Ericka says don't barf in your mouth because of my comments)
