cinco de mayo

one year mark. i can't believe its been a whole year. just typing those words makes me get a lump in throat. and tears in my eyes. twelve months ago dylan and i spent the day at dixie regional medical center. in the pediatric unit. there were tubes. heavy chemotherapy drugs. port-a-cath needles. nurses. movies playing. presents. a superman cape. books. legos. bubbles, his favorite.

it's been exactly one year. cinco de mayo. dylan was receiving his 12th, and final, dose of chemotherapy. what a little trooper. he is still our Superman. {dang it, there's that lump and those tears again} ahem.

i am truly humbled to be his mom. i love to hear him say, "mommy, i needa hold you" when he wants to sit on my lap. to paul he says, "i need your shoulder" when he wants to snuggle and close his eyes. hearing him and connor giggle while they wrestle in the living room...in their unders, of course...it makes my heart happy.

i am forever grateful he is mine. here. in our home. living. tasting of the goodness this life has to offer him. thankful i get to hold him. squeeze his round little belly. run my fingers through his red hair. and kiss those sweet cheeks. i can't help but smile when i hear him sing with connor.

speaking of connor. what a special boy to have in our family. he takes care of his little brother. and sister. dylan is happy because he has connor to play with. dylan looks up to connor. wants to be and do everything just like connor.

dylan. two years ago we were starting a journey that tested our faith. tried our patience. taught us to rely on God with everything we had and were. today. one year after your final treatment. we are faithful. more patient. and we love that God who healed you. you are healthy. happy. funny. defiant. and a little bug i couldn't live without.

{we head back up to Primary Children's for his one year MRI scan on May 16th. we could use your prayers. for peace. for comfort. he is doing so good. so so good. we pray he will continue to do so.}
