In April 2009 our family was faced with the
heart wrenching news that our
sweet Dylan had an inoperable brain tumor.
{To many readers of this blog, you already knew that.}
As we are approaching the
one-year-post-chemotherapy-date
our hearts are high on emotion.
We have made it one year without chemotherapy.
Dylan is developmentally on track.
He is our little Superman, still growing and developing.
Dylan is living a normal life!
We have made it this far because of the
incredibly talented and educated doctors
both in St. George and up at Primary Children's.
We have made it this far because of the huge support we have received from
our dearest family and friends...and blog readers!
What Paul and I have come to realize is that
we are truly blessed.
While we live in St. George, away from our families,
we have so many close friends and neighbors
who stepped up to take care of our family as we went through
a year of chemotherapy.
Did we feel alone? No
Did we feel like the only family in St. George with a child going through chemotherapy?
at times, Yes.
It was kind of a weird place to be mentally.
We knew there were other children and families experiencing the same trials as us.
What we didn't know, was who these families were.
Like I said, we have an incredible support group of friends, family, and neighbors, we just didn't have a family nearby who could really relate to our trial.
So,
We have decided to change that;
Not only for ourselves but for the families here in
Washington County/Southern Utah.
Paul has set up another blog
HERE
Dylan's Friends is our way to reach out to the community
and form a support group for families
who have/are going through cancer treatments.
Our hearts ache for each family we have made contact with so far.
What we hope to be able to do is provide
support, help, and a listening ear
to those in our community who want it.
I guess what I am asking is
if you are one of these families,
check out the website and join us!
Please leave a comment and become one of
Dylan's Friends.
If you know of these families, send them our way!
Please.
Having the support of family and friends is so vital in the
process and in the recovery of treatment.
We are hoping to provide just a little bit of that to families in our area!

What a great idea. You just never know who you might meet and how you might help them. So glad he is doing so great.
That is an amazing idea! Your family is truly a family of angels! Anyone that becomes a friend of this new is so lucky to have come in contact with your sweet family!
