Well, here in the Mogle home we have celebrated Connor's 3rd birthday gone to the zoo and taken Dylan in for another chemo treatment.
Connor was pretty excited for his birthday. We told him that he was going to get presents. That might have been a mistake on our part as the night before his birthday he came and woke us up at 2 in the morning to "Open presents?" He was up for 2 hours wanting to open his presents. We didn't sleep very good that night. I think we will keep silent about Santa Claus. But it was worth it to see his happy little face when he opened his presents the next morning. Thomas the train ran non-stop for 48 hours in our house after he opened that present. For dinner we let him decide what he wanted. "Happy Meal!" So we went to McDonald's and gagged down McDonald's finest all for the sake of the birthday boy. We finished the night off with cake and ice cream.
Since we had to go up north for Dylan's chemo treatment we decided to hit the Hogle Zoo. The boys had a great time at the zoo. However we were disappointed that the zoo no longer has lions, polar bears, or hippos.
Dylan hasn't been bouncing back from the chemo like he was at the beginning. It is taking a toll on his little body. So when we went in for his 5th treatment we were kind of expecting his blood counts to be too low to do a treatment. But they were good enough to do another round. So Dylan and I stayed at Primary's and Connor and mom went to the Children's Centre at the Gateway Mall.
There is not a more humbling place than the oncology room on the 4th floor of Primary's. Little kids walking around with bald heads and eyes that could melt your heart with a glance. You will find strength that is not found in most people. These kids are amazing. If you think you have it bad or are ever having a pity party moment, walk up to that room. It will put you in your place awfully fast. You will suddenly realize that things aren't that bad and that life is worth fighting for. One little girl was rolling around on her heelies showing all the nurses that her hair was finally growing.
Dylan almost seems like an outcast up there because of his red hair. But no one treats him like one. As soon as you get that IV hooked into you, you are all on the same level. No one is above the other. Every one is on the same playing field, regardless of race or social status. Being in that room is the great equalizer.
After doing some research on why Dylan's hair hasn't fallen out yet, I came across a website that said regular doses of Carboplatin (which is his type of chemo) will usually not cause hair loss. Might cause hair thinning after the 4th or 5th treatment. Either way, we are just glad he still has his.
While we were sitting there I snapped a photo with my phone of his chemo. It is in just a regular IV bag and administered the same way. Since I never knew how chemo was administered or what it looked like before the month of May here is a photo. I was always curious.

Well since there were a lot of pics, here is a video that shows our past week or two. I put in a Truffle Shuffle to get things started.

We are so glad to see that you guys are doing good. Can you believe that we have three year olds? WOW!! Well give the children a kiss for us and we hope to see ya soon!!
Sorry that Paul didn't get a chance to go deer hunting. Consider it a blessing, no dragging a buck out of a deep hole at the bottom of a canyon and not gutting a deer. Sounds like you guys have had a real busy couple of weeks. I hope that all is going well for you I haven't heard from you for a quite a while, except for Paul texting me to let me know that Cabelas was giving out gift certificates, damn good joke by the way I fell for it hook line and sinker. Mogle family, you are in our prayers and it looks like Dylan is doing good and congatulations to Connor the underwear wearing wild man.
