This weekend was filled with lots of family, lots of food, lots of driving, lots of eating, and lots of crying kids! We had a family reunion down at the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. Its a fun place to take the kids because the weather is perfect and there are ton of red rocks perfect for climbing on, and falling of off. :) My sister and her family came Friday night and stayed with us through the weekend. Connor loved having the girls here to entertain him.....heck, Paul and I loved having the girls here to entertain him! My brother and his family along with my parents and Shelbie headed down to party it up in Mesquite so we waited to see them until Saturday. Saturday we headed down to the reunion and the weather was perfect. It's always fun to get together with all of our family. We have the reunion at the Seven Sisters camp site at the Valley of Fire which is named after my ancestors who settled the area. It is tradition for our family to go to Overton and visit The Lost City Museum. This museum has a whole bunch of stuff from St. Thomas which is where my Grandpa Bauer grew up, and it was flooded out by Lake Mead. It is now a preserved site by the state of Nevada. You can go on a short hike down to what is now a river bottom. There are some remains of where the city used to be. It was really neat to go back and read about all the history and see some of the pictures of what St. Thomas used to look like. My great-great-great grandmother was a basket weaver and so there is a picture of her and also an original basket that she made at the museum. A few years ago someone found a notary stamp that belonged to my grandpafather's dad (I think it was his dad....maybe his grandpa) and gave it to my grandpa who then donated it to this museum. It was really cool to see my actual family history being preserved in this museum.
By the end of the trip I was exhausted and the kids were done and ready to be home in their own beds....I mean in mine and Paul's bed! :) Lets just say that dinner Saturday night at an over-crowded, musty, crammed with 8 billion people, in Mesquite Nevada, was a complete disaster with two tired Mogle boys!
Overall we had fun-filled weekend. It was so fun to see my family and can't wait for the next big get together! Oh, and we got to meet Scotty-boys girlfriend! so cute!
And now that I have rambled heres a slideshow of our adventerous weekend:
